Energy
Only 13% of the population in the big cities of DR Congo have electricity. The remaining majority of its population has none. Although electricity may seem like a luxury to some, electricity can power life-saving devices like well pumps to extract and filter clean water from deep wells. Cell phones are also a lifeline as it allows us to communicate with teams on the ground about current conditions and needs.
How We Help
Since installing electricity involves large scale projects that are beyond our resources, we have opted to use smaller scale solutions to electrify communities and institutions. Gas-powered electric generators are sufficient to power water pumps and other devices that can help improve the well-being of the people we serve.
We are on the verge of installing our first water extraction and filtration system for a school in the district of N'Sele. Part of this system involves a small electric generator to pump the water. For the first time, children in this school will have access to clean, running water. Thank you to Waynesfield-Goshen Elementary School and 50 Strong for your work in raising the money for this project!
Pictures and details about the project will be coming soon!
